Small, independent areas are the charm of New England skiing. Jay’s terrain is unmatched, but an indoor water park? really?

Anyone remember the American Skiing Company. In my opinion, that was the begining of the downfall of many ski areas becoming ski resorts. It opened the flood gates and took unique parts from so many places. I’ll take Bromley/MRG/Magic over Stratton/Killington/Okemo any day.

as long as stenger continues to develop burkes list serve mtb. that place may rival highland in a few years as a primere EC bike park but bill stenger needs to draw on the local mtb passion and not squelch the digging.

Burke is a great mountain. I grew up skiing there. But the appeal of Burke was that the slopes were empty. Hope they don’t build a Walmart at the top and bottom.

Also, the map in this article is ancient. The mountain hasn’t grown but there are new lifts and trails on this little hill.

Burke is a kick as mountain with a lot of really fun terrain. With some money there could be a lot more. Bill Stenger will do a far better job than and Ginn ever did.
