Season 3 of Signal Snowboards’ series called Every Third Thursday kicked off today with their episode called Reel Shredding. The team’s task was to implement fly-fishing into a snowboard design.  The designers came up with a cork top sheet (a tribute to the cork handle of a fly reel), from the looks of it putting together the base graphics was tedious and time consuming. The designers then decided to give the board a swallowtail equipped with a net to be used when you’re out fishing. Then came the implementation of an actual rod into the board and took it to Abel fly reels to finish it up. The end product: A fly-fishing snowboard.

The board gets taken up to Mount Hood for some fishing and shredding. Pro boarder Yusaku Horii gets a nice catch and then takes the trout board up to the top of the Hood.

Bottom line: creative, awesome, fun
