This is the biggest, craziest, gnarliest project Mike Wilson has ever put together. If you have seen even a fraction of the things Mike has pulled off… you know that’s saying something.
The slow winter is wearing on all of us, but I don’t even want to try and understand the kind of buttons it must be pushing inside of Mike Wilson’s brain. We’ve all been searching for ways to have a little fun in this obnoxiously pleasant weather, but “fun” has a slightly different meaning for Mike. Over the past few weeks, Mike Wilson has been up to some dangerously creative, awesome, and frankly… terrifying shit.
[ sorry everyone. The Video Teaser is gonna have to wait a little longer... ] A few lucky folks got to see it. It’ll be back again, don’t worry.
I’m not at liberty to divulge the entirety of the radness that has been going down “somewhere in the hills of West Virginia,” but I can give you some idea of the scale. It’s big!
When Wilson goes big, he scares people, and he generally manages to pull off some undeniably super human feats. I’m not kidding when I say this is the biggest, most involved, and raddest piece of work that Mike has ever put together.

Can’t wait!
That cable is above American River Canyon, near Alta. Lover’s Leap area.
So sketch
Shit that bros say^
Sketch…..? pfff….
Ask the helicopter pilot who fly’s through there.
John,
Although you got me excited, you’re article is also like that of a 13 year old girl telling secrets in class. “Like OMG! The craziest thing just happened to Tina. You aren’t even gonna believe it. But I can’t tell you what it is.”
I typically dont say this about Unofficial and I am a huge fan, even when everyone else hates. But, this article was a waste of time to read…
Hey, it’s just a teaser. I’m trying to respect the wishes of the person organizing the project. They don’t want the whole thing leaked before they finish what they are doing and put together their footage. Sorry if you didn’t like it.
Mike Wilson,,, My favorite F#%KNUT!!!
nice..reppin’ WV
‘taint WV. This threat to life (not Wilson’s…he obviously don’t care) is in the American River canyon of CA.
I saw the trailer last night. Looks sick. Can’t wait. How long ’til everyone has the iGoBig stickers?
Hey, I was skiing at Timberline in WV last week. More snow at that time
than Squaw.
I’d bet this project is further south in WV near/on the New River where
people bungie jump off a high bridge into the river gorge..
You want IGOBIG stickers? I Got your stickers baby……
Friend me, Mandi Winnicki @ IGOBIG.ORG and Ill send you some…. PS it IS gonna be super sick.
This is crazy. Although Im pretty sure that is not in WV, but in the placer county foothills along I80.
There was a video teaser in the post where Mike jokingly alluded to being in the hills of West Virginia. But that teaser is being refurbished and isn’t online anymore. It’ll pop back up at some point.
def gotta let us see……. guessing a wore walk across that gorge..
Those wires should have marker balls on them. As someone who flys that canyon regularly, those wires are a major concern. It doesn’t take much to drop a helicopter.
That said, I’m interested to see what he does next.
I know he has a notam up and he has made an effort to alert local airports, pilots and air traffic controllers. You’re right though, they probably need to string a second cable with marker balls.
Please show me how/ where I can this NOTAM…..
Thanks for mentioning the notam, I’ve notified our pilots. It’s where I suspected and directly on a common flight path for us. Scenic gap, should be impressive. Hope the rigging is safer than the rope bungee.
On swr:

Glad to see he took the initiative to put in the NOTAM, but you are right, some markers colored would be good. Most of those bugsquashers flying VFR don’t bother checking notams
he is gonna go out to the middle drop a penny, spit, and then pee when he thinks no one is looking; Probably in to the wind. Then he will say, “hey, I can see my house from here.” then he will walk back.
I’m a tard
Is that cable still up?……..
pretty sick! but isnt that the famous snow boarder cameron beck in the first photo? ya know, the dude in spandex on the avalanch??
Hey F#%K NUT Wilson. Please, please, please get some professional instruction on rigging. I don’t want to attend your memorial because you failed to understand the proper use of quickdraws and NON-Locking biners….

From the local paper:
http://auburnjournal.com/detail/200237.html
A Squaw Valley daredevil looking for a new round of extreme viral video fame in the American River canyon has been shut down by authorities.
Citing concern over safety to aircraft passing through Giant Gap, near Alta, the Bureau of Land Management ordered Mike Wilson to reel in a 4,000-foot cable strung across the canyon over the North Fork American River.
David Christy, Bureau of Land Management spokesman, said the quarter-inch cable – with no markers on it and virtually invisible to helicopter or airplane pilots – was taken down Friday.
