Here’s a timelapse of the devastating fire that ripped through Colorado Springs. The Waldo Canyon fire was the worst fire in Colorado history destroying 347 homes and killing two people.

The fire was 45 percent contained late Saturday night after a long week of shifting winds that frustrated firefighters. It was one of many burning across the West, including eight in Utah and a fast-growing blaze in Montana that forced residents in several small communities to leave. -USA Today

Our thoughts go out to the family/friends of the Victums and the many people who lost homes .

Home to home ignitions are tough to fight. It would be interesting to research wildland/urban interface fuels reduction project proposals for that area in the last few years…Too bad that the USFS still wont allow contractors equipped with gel on these incidents…Glad I’m out of that work, the west will be burning more often and hotter in the years to come.

It looks just like the Okanagan mountain fire did! 10 or 12 houses in a row, completely levelled. Then, one house, completely untouched! Weird! I feel so sorry for everyone who lost their homes in the blaze. I know how it feels, after almost losing my home to a forest fire as well…
