Cortina is probably Hakuba’s worst kept secret. It gets more snow than anywhere else in the valley, it has fantastic tree skiing, and it is the only resort around where ski patrol encourage you to ski off piste. The whole valley knows this, so on days like today, Cortina gets tracked out approximately 10 seconds after the lifts open. (On the bright side, that is a full five seconds longer than a powder day at Squaw.) However, with a free lunch and free onsen included on your ticket, there is never a bad day at Cortina. Today, it delivered everything it has to offer – good and bad.
