Former Aspen resident Montgomery Chitty was convicted yesterday of conspiracy to distribute five kilos of cocaine in one of the wildest drug ring stories involving a ski town in recent memory. 61-year old Chitty is looking at a minimum of 20 years in prison, with a possibility of a life sentence due to a prior marijuana conviction. Chitty is the 9th person to be convicted for importing coke from California to Aspen, with witnesses maintaining he bought and sold over 200 kilos of it between 2002 and 2010.

America needs to lessen the non-violent crime sentences. They’re bullshit and only cost us more money. A guy who never hurt anybody can get 20 years from some drugs? I think it’s crazy personally. Some punishment of course, but damn. Maybe in 50 years they’ll just legalize drugs and solve a lot of problems
directly or indirectly at lot of people have suffered greatly from the shit he
sold and he knew it. To say he has never hurt anyone is crap, he is a life criminal, simply as that, for the pain he has caused 20 yrs is a let off.
