New images of the tram accident at Alyeska, that occurred on New Years Eve, show far more damage than first reported. The accident occurred when a freak wind gust blow the tram sideways as it approached the tram tower. When the accident happened three employees and two guests were riding the tram. It took more than 5 hours to rescue everyone from the crippled tramcar. This image shows the Alaska ski tram impaled on one of the trams towers. More info at alaskadispatch.com

the tram it the tower cause the owner wanted to get up to the 7G’s at the top of the mountain, he ignored the high winds and told the tramie to operate anyways. He put peoples lives at risk and should be throw up the flag pole for fucking up girdwoods tram

    Business as usual at Alyeska,

    Can you say negligent?

No ballast in the tram, didn’t slow or stop for the tower, and management pushing an inexperienced driver in high winds.

    Luckily no one got hurt.

thats an ugly smash. looks like the lift maint crew has some long days and nights coming their way. if the tower head or saddle got tweaked its down for a while, and changing track and haul ropes this time of year isnt much fun either. good luck!
