This video is from a Marte powder day last week. Rider / POVer is Matthias Weichelsbaumer. This one features plenty of Las Leñas classics: Eduardo, Parrot Shell, Sans Nom, Frankie, and Erradito. Nice one Matthias, thanks for sharing.

Conditions are turning very spring-like in Las Leñas right now, so it is a good time to reminisce about how good the past week has been to us. It looks like we may not be seeing another snow fall for some time. It’s a good time to get out there and tick off some of those big hike lines on the check list.

Don’t worry, some day you’ll get to ride Las Leñas. Until then, I hope your opinions will comfort you.

easy Lee, Im sorry, Im not trying to bust on you….. Just sayin, watching the vid, I kept waiting to see dude catch some air…. Im trying my best to live vicariously through you guys, dont get all butt hurt. Lets be honest, the rider you feature is not great, all he did was turn, and not pretty turns at that….. a little weak is all. I mean, if your not going to hit anything, at least point that shit down mountain for a few seconds, Jesus

This dude is actually really hanging it out there for a Leñas powder day after a dry spell. You have never experienced sharp rocks on landings, takeoffs and just rondomly strewn on the piste like there are in there. Additionally, you’re not as apt to make yourself a human bomb because of the possibility of major sluff. Finally, when you do go up on a fin or an outcropping you can’t see what’s below you. Leñas is for turning, except in a few places with huge snow permitting. Lee is right: you won’t know until you go. I

I dont know how you know what I have experienced…. I dont want to argue with anyone, I was just saying I think dude pussed out a little, take it or leave it. This wasnt suppossed to be a pissing contest. There are a lot of boarders out there better than me… just, not the one in that video. “lenas is made for turning?” really? sounds a little weak to me. but what do I know, never been, hope to one day

Sans Nom requires a walk in (super short) and a walk out that is a mile and a half or so hitching a ride for a big portion is a possibility. All those other lines go back to a chair lift………

Yet more evidence that Las Leñas has some of the best lift served skiing on the planet when Marte is open.

Indeed; every line in this video is downhill from the Marte chair. One of the lines (Roca de Sans Nom) involves a 5 min hike, but the others are easy downhill.

Jeeze man, have some fun out there… How about some hits? Or some buttering… I mean, at least get that nose up and get a good lean in.

I’m super jealous of you, but come on… There’s no enthusiasm in this. You’re lapping quality runs while we’re back here refreshing UN all day.

Lee, there are a lot of really good riders (especially me, Im really really good) and skiiers who check out UN every day, we want to see other good riders and skiiers do their thing, its not usually enough to see nice snow and features, especially when they are waisted. Its like burning the shit out of a nice steak…. Or watching John Wells ski
