Mountain Creek? Is this a joke?

I’m not sure what exactly the criteria of small ski resorts are, but that does not fit with the others.

take bachelor off, its not a small ski area in any sense. Then take off attitash and mountain creek. Because they really aren’t that great. Now, with the 3 new spots add Baker, Bridger and Silver, ID.

Bachelor is huge (3,700 acres), and putting a New Jersey mtn on there before Mad River Glen, Cannon, and dozens of others leads me to believe the author is a complete idiot who has never ventured outside of Manhattan.

I fully agree with this list, Wolf Creek takes the cake, however, I would add Silverton Mountain, CO. Also Mount Bachelor is rather large, I would replace it with Stevens Pass, WA or Hoodoo Mountain, OR

they have to close those high lifts for wind. if it is dumping snow and windy, it is a saftey hazard to stay open. also rhime can really mess up the grips on detachable lifts, so they have to shut down to do knock rhime off, or you would get really hurt just riding the lift.

Discovery News is not newsworthy here. Anything over 500 acres is not small, or if your near a major community that floods your lift lines on weekends that doesn’t count for a “Small” experience either. A little peer review would have saved this article from being completey off base and a forgetable waste of time.

None of those are small resorts. Solitude is comparable to Snowbird or Alta. Maybe not as many lifts, but terrain wise. I definitely do not understand what they are using to define a “small” resort. All of those listed are pretty well known. How disappointing!

Jay Peak- never been, dying to go. I would not call it small.

Mtn Creek- I wouldn’t ski in New Jersey even if it snowed 10 feet.

MRG- never been, dying to go. From what I know of it, this is def considered small. Terrain is supposed to be top notch.

As everyone has mentioned those are all large. I would go with:
East Coast: Magic, Plattekill, Snowbowl, MRG.
    West: Snow King, Bridger Bowl.
    West Coast: Don’t really know.

Ummm… You can’t call any ski area in the tri-state area “less known” when there are 19 million people around. They’re not exactly hiding the place.

Mountain Creek? Hilarious! The place is tiny, icy, unsafe and has been constantly going downhill the past 5 years. The place is ridden with accidents, chairlift failures, late openings; it’s really a recipe for disaster – just plain ole unsafe! Check the mountain creek facebook page later today and they will surely be touting “one of the best small resorts in the country”.

I can seriously say I love riding the Open Gondola at mountain creek….From May-October

In winter its an absolute $hitshow with overcrowded 20 degree slopes and no woods. Oh but the park there is awesome – if you like features that aren’t attended to, 1,000,000 snowboarders with their gopros casing every feature because they go beneath a reasonable run in, cut you off in line, fall down and then land on top of eachother. Makes for an awesome day in the park.

If Solitudes on here as a small resort Baker should absolutely be added
