The lower 48 thus far has been _____.  Alyeska means “the great land” and it is.  Especially this season with Alyeska having already received 328 inches of snow.

Girdwood (Alyeska) Forecast:

- Blizzard Warning – 4-8 inches in next 10 hours

The Lower 48 Forecast:

- Tahoe = nada

- Jackson = 1-2 inches this week

- Snowbird = 1-3 inches this week

- Colorado = 1-3 inches this week

Canadian Forecast:

- Whistler = nada (a little rain maybe)

Northern Lights = the coolest thing you’ll ever see

Being in Alaska during the winter gives you a damn good chance at seeing the northern lights.  The northern lights is the coolest thing you’ve never seen.

Time for a trip to Alyeska this early winter?  YES!

      Been there. They have a little bit of goods in the Christmas Chute area. Most of the mountain is nothing special. Big pow days are good there, but skiing when it is cloudy is rough….and it is cloudy a lot!

    Why you gotta hate on Alyeska? Sounds like you have never been there before, so don’t knock it before you try it. And it’s awesome right now. C’mon up and ski it but I can’t believe youre a pro because I’m way sicker than you :)

    Getting to Alyeska is the only hard/expensive part. Girdwood is cheap, has awesome people and you can party every night since the lifts open at 10:30.

    Oh yeah, the tram delivers when it’s storming but, it’s no Snowbird.

    I was there in 09′-10 for 880″ . Nothing touches this place in the ski world. 1k+” in the backcountry easily that year. We were doing backflips off the roofs of 3 and 4 story buildings. I miss u Aly

    That is my home mountain and it can by the best mountain or the worst it has some very sporadic weather negative twenty to raining in a matter of days but when it is good it is real good.
