Bozeman, MT is having a very big snow year. Observers at the Montana State University campus have measured a total of 97 inches of snow since November. That’s twice the average amount of snowfall and well above the previous record of about 75 inches of snow set during the winter of 1996-1997.

The winter of 1996-1997 went on to be the snowiest winter on record at MSU, with 158 inches (13.1 feet) of snowfall.

The historic snow totals were helped by a very snowy December that saw 46 inches of snow at the Montana State University campus station. In fact, it was the snowiest December ever recorded and the second snowiest month ever. Coming up short of April 2009 by just one inch.

With more snow in the forecast the 2017 – 2018 winter could be one for the record books for Bozeman, MT.
