Dreams of olympic gold will have to wait for rising ski racing star Jackie Wiles after the 25 year-old broke her tibia & fibula at a recent world cup, downhill event in Garmisch, Germany reports SkiRacing.com.

She also sustained a torn ACL in her left knee. Following the injury, Wiles admitted that she’s “heartbroken” but will remain positive as she begins the rehab process.

“My teammates who have come back from injury give me hope that I too can come back stronger. Now I’ll shift my focus to rehabbing and getting strong for next World Cup season, and the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. I will be rooting very hard for my teammates – who make up a strong women’s speed squad – and look forward to returning and joining them again next year!”

Upon seeing the crash Lindsey Vonn, who is no stranger to ski-related injuries herself, shed tears for the fellow USA ski teamer. Earlier this season, Wiles stood alongside Vonn on the downhill podium at Cortina d’Ampezzo. She took 3rd in the event while Vonn took 1st.
