Should a “nightmare scenario” unfold on the Koran Peninsula during Pyeongchang Winter Olympics The United States Ski & Snowboard Teams have emergency evacuation plans in place for athletes, coaches and officials.

Global Rescue, a company that provides medical, security, intelligence, and crisis response services to corporations, governments and individuals, told Thomson Reuters that they believe the prospect of a”nightmare scenario” is “very low” but that a number of evacuation plans are in place.

“North Korea might do something to disrupt the Games just to show they have the power to do so. There are a lot of things we all need to be prepared for short of an all out conflict.” company CEO Dan Richards told Reuters.

For obvious reasons, Global Rescue is tight-lipped on what the emergency plans consist of. However, one thing the company is clear on is that the plans can get our skiers and snowboarders out of the country “very, very quickly.”

Global Rescue has worked closely with the U.S. Ski and snowboard teams for many years. They had evacuation plans in place for the last Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

As for the rest of the American Olympians headed to Pyeongchang who are not covered by Global Rescue The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has been vague on possible evacuation plans. They have stated that they would take guidance from the State Department.
