What a weekend. Squaw opens and proceeds to drop the rope on the Palisades almost immediately. The entire state of Washington is basically in mid-winter form. And how the hell is Jackson Hole not open yet? They’ve already seen 115″ of snow this season!

Well, unfortunately JHMR is under a USFS lease that dictates their opening and closing dates. That and being right next to a national park has its regulatory burdens of course.

“Due to record breaking early season snowfall, our mountain operations are conducting avalanche mitigation work and have begun setting up. For everyone’s safety please stay off the mountain until opening day, November 25th. Thank you.” – Jackson Hole Ski Patrol

But in 5 days Jackson locals will be lapping up the already plush base and we assume they’ll have Big Red flying too…
