Early season conditions are very much in effect at Mammoth Mountain but hey– ski season is officially underway and that’s something we can all celebrate.

For one, terrain is limited and mountain ops is recommending against beginners skiing during this limited, early season period. That said, if you’re willing to carve it up on man-made snow– the time is now to get your turns dialed before the pow arrives.

Perhaps the most remarkable things about this particular opening day was its proximity to what will go down as one of the best seasons in Mammoth history. As of today, there were only 94 days between the mountain closing in August and opening today. And while we sit and hope for a repeat of last year, you can’t miss out on the present.

“Current base depth is 10-12″ with two runs, one lift and a number of terrain park features on offer for the opener. More lifts and runs are expected to open on through this weekend as conditions allow.”

The rest of the weekend will include a variety of festivities from DJ’s to a screening of Chris Benchetler’s Chasing AdVANture. Peep the schedule below…

Let’s go 17/18!
