After receiving 20″ of new snow in the last 7 days, Kicking Horse ski patrol is already bombing its slopes.

While that might seem a little excessive seeing as they don’t open for another month, the bombing is a great time for ski patrollers to test current mitigation systems that have lain dormant for 6 months. Also, the bombing will break up an otherwise unified weak layer of snow that could cause instabilities on heavily trafficked areas of the mountain later in the season.

And you know what they say, “proper planning prevents piss poor performance.”
