All you have to do is show up on the steps of the Lawrence County Courthouse and throw down the winning bid. The Black Hills ski area just outside Lead, South Dakota is being auctioned off after its owners reportedly failed to pay $3.7 million the necessary mortgage for the ski area.
On July 18 of this year, a judgment was handed down in Deadwood, SD that Union Resort LLC, had failed to satisfy the resort’s debt. Then on Aug. 2, there was a decree of foreclosure against the same defendants, which would eventually lead to the sheriff’s auction.
