HIGH ELEVATION SNOW LIKELY FOR COLORADO WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY WITH PERHAPS 8-12 INCHES ABOVE 11,000 FEET
Unseasonal colder temperatures are impacting the West with plenty of moisture aimed at the San Juans mid to late week. Snow levels will be high with a decent amount of snow at the highest elevation resorts in southern and central Colorado.

One caveat is wind direction where southerly flow is not ideal for many areas with the exception perhaps at Wolf Creek and to some extend Purgatory. Moisture will spill north by Thursday morning impacting most of central Colorado including I-70 under southerly flow. Expect light snow in most areas above 11,000 from Summit County and east. Easterly upslope conditions may play some favor to resorts along the Continental Divide near Loveland but southerly flow is not ideal. The highest totals this week will most likely extend from Pikes Peak and west through to Wolf Creek (8-12 ) at the upper elevations. Much lower amounts will be found at pass level and the bases (2-5) “Models depict higher amounts at the peaks (20 inches) but we feel it may be overdone.” Perhaps some surprise numbers will result from the summits.
In the extended forecast it looks like a low pressure system will take aim at a good portion of the Pacific Northwest, Interior Canada, and eventually the northern Rockies by the weekend into early the following week.
