Waterspout touching down on Lake Tahoe | Photo (+Cover):North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District 

A watersput touched down on Lake Tahoe yesterday and the photos taken by the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District are just as rare as they are beautiful.

The spout, otherwise known as acondensation funnel‘, is the result of condensation and wind between two bodies of moisture– in this case a  cumulus congestus cloud and Lake Tahoe. Although the spout only stuck around for a few minutes, the photos are another reminder of nature’s random power.
