Last year, the Olympic gold medalist and former world champ Johaug appeared in a tearful presser where she admitted testing positive for Clostebol but said she had been treated unfairly since she had asked her doctor about the legality of the lip balm before filling her prescription.
Displayed on the lip balm itself was a warning label concerning the substance in question. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ultimately handed down the punishment saying that Johaug acted carelessly by neglecting to make sure her lip balm was in compliance. Experts previously said that the amount of steroid in the lip balm would minimally affect performance if at all.
