A 20-year-old man from Florida plunged to his death Tuesday from a rocky cliff edge inside the caldera of Crater Lake National Park. The unidentified man was on West Rim Drive in Crater Lake National Park in Oregon at the time of his fall.

Park supervisory ranger Alec Chapman said that witnesses saw the man on a rocky outcropping when it gave way sending him 50 to 70 feet below, according to CNN and The Oregonian.

Rangers in the park confirmed his death after reaching him.

*Our deepest condolences to the young man’s family and friends.
