Ever dream of buying your own ski area? This might be your chance. Blacktail Mountain Ski Area in Montana is up for sale with an asking price of $3.5 million. The owner of the ski area, Steve Spencer, is retiring and looking to sell the ski area to capable hands.

The sale includes the summit lodge, lifts, all the equipment and the special use permit from the Flathead National Forest.

This ski area is no small operation. The ski area employees 100 people during the season and sees 45,000 skier visits annually.

Official Statement: “Blacktail Mountain’s 19th Season is now in the books and what a great winter it has been. The snow was plentiful from day one right up until the end. Looking forward to next year we hope to have more glading done between Snowslip and Radar and West of Emmons ridge from the top down to crossover. The Environmental Assessment for improvements to the Blacktail Road is complete and the decision was to pave the road to the top. The contract for phase 2, mile post 3.43 to mile post 7 should come out in May and that work should start this summer. Thanks to all of you who wrote letters of support. The Blacktail Road provides access to many multiple use opportunities on the Flathead National Forest.
