Cool to see an interview with longtime Salomon athlete Kilian Jornet before the Catalan set out to summit Mount Everest in a mere 26 hours without the use of additional oxygen or fixed ropes, breaking the record for this type of climb.

As you common sense would dictate and Kilian confirms, the name of the game for getting to the top in speedy fashion is finding a cooperative weather window. This becomes especially important in cases like Kilian’s where time spent in the death zone (26,247 feet) has to be minimized to the maximum to get up and down quickly and without the use of canned air.

*there are humors swirling that Kilian will make another attempt at the summit as soon as another weather window opens. Read full article about it here.
