With most other ski areas in Colorado closed, Arapahoe Basin‘s second ski season is just getting started with a major winter weather system that’s already delivered a foot of new snow in this week alone.

And it’s only getting better… The resort easily saw another 5″ today on top of 4″ from the night before. Conditions on the East Wall are unbelievable but everything below 11,500′ is a little gamey past 11am.

From 9-11am, conditions are really, really– good. Getting up early is a must if you’re planning on coming up Saturday/Sunday. The beach will be popping both days as Abay will be hosting their spring concert series featuring Whitewater Ramble, New Sensation, and Robby Wicks Band.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Friday through Wednesday
A storm system will drop toward the Four Corners region Friday night as a strong cold front moves across northeast Colorado. Snow will develop over the foothills by late afternoon. In the Denver area snow will develop in the evening, with the eastern plains receiving a mix of rain and snow changing to mostly snow overnight. Significant snowfall will be possible in the foothills and over the Palmer Divide south of Denver where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect. Snow accumulations up to a foot will be possible in the foothills. Snow accumulations in the Denver area will be lighter, but snow accumulating on leafed out vegetation may lead to some breaking tree branches.
The snow storm should be moving out of the state by Saturday afternoon and evening, but cool and unsettled weather may last through Tuesday with a chance of afternoon and evening showers each day. Warmer and drier weather are expected to return Wednesday.
