A dutch snowboarder’s body has been extracted from an avalanche that occurred on Tuesday in an off-piste area near the Valfréjus ski area.

Le Dauphine is reporting that the victim was snowboarding with two other Dutch nationals who are still missing since the slide. A search party will continue to look for the missing snowboarders when light, avalanche conditions, and weather cooperate. Rescue personnel are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

The avalanche is reported to have occurred in the late afternoon on Tuesday when the snowboarders ventured off-piste into an area known as Seuil. Le Dauphine also indicated that the group were not wearing avalanche beacons at the time of the avalanche. The avalanche danger was marked as 4/5 and a warning was in effect for the region.
