Worst case scenario for an elderly Colorado driver, as 85 year Ruby Stein took a wrong turn down a snowy mountain road only to have her car get stuck and die in a place with no cellular service.
Ruby survived 5 days in her Nissan Sentra with her cat to keep her company. Thankfully Ruby survived on snow melted on her dashboard and a diet of Rice Krispy Treats and sweet rolls and didn’t have to to resort to Nicki’s cat food before a pair of hikers stumbled upon her in the Colorado backcountry.
Alls well that ends well, but we can use this story to remind us that driving in the mountains can become a life threatening situation really quick no matter what age you are and we should all do our best to stay safe while driving in the hills.
