A Swiss mountain guide faces charges of homicide through negligence following an avalanche that killed 4 people.

It is likely that the guide, traveling with four other skiers, triggered the deadly slide that killed four, ranging in aged from 52 to 75-years old.

The Innsbruck Publi Prosecutor in Austria is weighing whether or not to bring criminal charges against the Swiss guide who raised the alarm.

Three of the victims were found soon after the avalanche struck, but the body of the fourth victim was not found till 5 hours later, buried under 12m of snow.

The case will be watched closely by mountain guides and ski instructors across the alps.
