Gag Order Prevents Developers From Talking New Colorado Ski Area | Website Lays Out Details

Just a half an hour south of Steamboat lies what could possibly become Colorado’s next great, 4-season mountain resort.

Known to locals simply as “Stagecoach,” the new resort would be the first “major public ski area” development in Colorado since Beaver Creek was founded in the early 80’s. However, the developers are keeping their lips sealed until a deal is set in stone.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is reporting that the lack of discussion comes on the heels of a confidentiality agreement entered into by the developers, Stagecoach Mountain LLC and the current property owners. In the meantime, the Wittemyer family is allowing the developers the ability to host a website that lays out the basic vision for Colorado’s latest and greatest ski area development.

“The transfer of the irreplaceable Stagecoach Mountain property from a private family holding to experienced Colorado visionaries in the ski business, paired with contemporary market conditions, has set the stage for creating the first new major four season Colorado ski resort in 36 years.” – Stagecoach Mountain Resort

The plans for Stagecoach Mountain Resort are as massive as the 2,200′ tall mountain itself. According to the website, the developers hope to add, “450 ski-in, ski-out home sites; 280 ski-in, ski-out condos & townhomes; 340 units for locals housing; four hotels; and a walkable core village.” The capital investment required to get the ski area up and running?– $15 million.

What truly makes Stagecoach a special place for skiers is its northern facing slopes that hold snow extremely well. If the master plan and deal go through, Northern Colorado will play host to some of the best powder-oriented ski areas in all of Colorado.
