While Squaw Valley is known as the spring skiing capital of the world, it’s not usually known for being America’s 4th of July shred spot. That title, usually reserved for A-Basin and Mammoth, is now being claimed by the north Lake Tahoe ski resort reports SF Gate.

That news should come as no surprise seeing as Squaw is reporting approximately 565″ this season alone with 7 feet coming in the last 7 days! With the news, Squaw season pass holders will be happy to hear they’re not even halfway through the ski season.

According to Squaw’s website, the resort averages 450″ per season. The resort exceeded that total in just the first month and a half of 2017. Squaw joins Mammoth Mountain as the second resort to announce a 4th of July opening.
