A cold mass of moisture is moving across the western USA and Utah is right in the middle of the storm’s track.

NOAA’s models are indicating that areas in Little Cottonwood Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon could see upwards of 32″ of new snow out of this storm with the heaviest snowfall coming on Thursday (*free refills?). Friday morning should also be really good with early ups being a great idea (*road closures permitting).

Winter Weather Advisory

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM MST FRIDAY…

The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM MST Friday.

* AFFECTED AREA…The Wasatch and Western Uinta Mountains, Wasatch Plateau and Book Cliffs, and the Central Utah Mountains.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…Storm totals of 18 to 32 inches…except 8 to 16 inches across the central mountain.

* TIMING…Snow is limited to the southern Wasatch and western Uinta mountains this morning and will turn more showery through midday. The snow will become heavier and more widespread across these mountain areas by late this afternoon and will continue, heavy at times, through Thursday before tapering off Thursday night.

* IMPACTS…Winter driving conditions can be expected along all mountain routes at times today through Thursday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that snow accumulations will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads. Use caution while driving.
