A pair of skiers are lucky to be alive after spending approximately 52 hours in the backcountry surrounding Monarch Mountain last month reports CBS Denver.
The two survived without food or the necessary gear by building a snowcave, keeping constant movement, and drinking water out of their ski goggles. A backcountry skier eventually discovered the two skiers and brought them to safety. One of the skiers suffered frostbite and could ultimately lose one of her toes.
