“I come from a place where it isn’t common for a woman to be an athlete and came to the US and am pursuing a sport that I love.” –Insha Afsar

ABC New’s Michael Koenigs headed out to Winter Park, Colorado to meet this inspirational young lady who lost a leg in a 2005 earthquake in her home country of Pakistan.

Insha Afsar came to America to get a prosthetic leg and was invited to move in with a guardian family and attend school in Washington, Connecticut. In true New England fashion, some of her new friends invited her out to go skiing and she took to it immediately:

“The skiing took and who would have imagined.” -Guardian Ted Bent

Insha excelled at the sport and is now training to represent Pakistan for the 2018 Paralympics. To train she participates in programs hosted by the National Sports Center for the Disabled based in Denver and Winter Park.
