Spotter RF, a radar detection technologies company out of Orem, Utah, has a system that can detect an avalanche up to 60 seconds before the slide actually happens at range up to 1.5 miles.  The technology is already deployed in the Alps where it has successfully predicted thousands of avalanches.

There isn’t any information on applying this product towards avalanche prediction on the company’s official website but I believe this would be the model used for avalanche detection:
