screen-shot-2017-01-10-at-3-49-04-pmMonarch Mountain closed today making it second Colorado resort shut down operations due to too much snow in the past 2 days (Crested Butte closed up shop yesterday afternoon). News 9 is reporting Monarch closed after 68 inches of fresh snow in the last 7 days which closed Monarch Pass:

“Monarch Pass is closed all night for avalanche control, preventing Monarch Mountain maintenance, food service and grooming crews from reaching the mountain.”

This was posted this morning to their Facebook page:

“7am snow report: 20″ in the last 24 hours; 28″ in the last 48; 68″ in the last week. 89″ midway base. No word yet from CDOT on the status of US50.”

They are asking people to stay tuned to their Facebook Page for the updates. Lets hope the plows get up there overnight and Monarch skiers can get a little delayed gratification.  15965852_10155346234122662_3325219735777204330_n 15941039_10155346233282662_9050250502393697625_n15941435_10155346247122662_3357960004381645798_n
