With all the new snow, sleet, and rain– Nevada residents are reveling in the fact that a 5-year drought is finally coming to an end.

California residents on the other hand are asking, “what about us?” Those folks will be happy to know that all the recent precipitation is putting them on the cusp of massive drought relief– if the precipitation continues on average for the rest of the winter.

“Copious rain from #CAStorm has improved drought conditions in NorCal. Extreme to exceptional drought remains in SoCal.” – NWS Sacramento

According to the most recent California Drought Monitor, Northern California has largely been removed from drought status while severe drought persists in southern California.

However, if snow in the eastern Sierra continues for the rest of the season– those woes could become distant memories– fingers crossed.
