The mother, two adult sons and a younger son were unable to descend from the 1,649m Mount Kenashi in Nagano Prefecture after a day of skiing. They were reported missing late on Monday after not returning from skiing.
Authorities were notified and began the search after the family posted on Facebook that that were in distress and needed rescue. They dug a snow cave to stay warm as temperatures dropped to 14° F over nights. The were found uninjured around 9am the following day.
