Skico is jumping on board the tiny house craze as it has begun to move seasonal workers into the ~500 square foot homes.  Summit Daily News is reporting that six “trailer coachers” were purchased this fall for around $100,000 each and are being delivered to the Aspen Basalt Campground in the midvalley this week after an eight week production turnaround. Workers will be placed in the micro domiciles as early as this weekend.

The trailers come live in ready from the manufacturer with mounted TVs, couches, and loaded kitchens. As you might expect they are small but use space efficiently with features like bookcase stairs and murphy beds. Their target rent will be $600 per person with utilities included.

Skico is currently running at a 600 bed deficit for its seasonal worker housing, so if this pilot tiny house project is a success, we may see many more of these pocket sized homes around Aspen.
