screen-shot-2017-01-31-at-8-08-07-amA 7 year old girl is recovering at Mercy Regional Medical Center after falling 26 feet from the Lift 1 chairlift at Purgatory Resort in southwestern Colorado on Sunday.  She is in stable condition according to The Durango Herald.

The fall occurred as the 6-pack chair approached tower 20 near the offloading station. The safety bar was down for the ride up but was raised to offload and then the child fell.

“From preliminary reports given by eyewitnesses, it is believed that after the arm bar was raised near the unloading zone, the female skier leaned forward and fell out of the chair.” Purgatory Resort Spokeswoman Kim Oyler

Purgatory Ski Patrol was immediately called by the lifty on duty and arrived on scene at 9:38 a.m. The skier was taken by ambulance to hospital. The chairlift was operating normally and continued to operate after the incident.

As required by the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board’s Rules and Regulations, the incident was reported to the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board.
