An electrical problem caused a “rare dynamic event” that ultimately contributed to a mother’s fatal, 25 foot fall from a chairlift at Granby Ranch reports the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board.

The tragic event resulted in the death of 40 year-old mother, Kelly Huber of San Antonio, Texas. Her two children were injured in the fall but survived the incident.

“Granby Ranch would again like to extend its condolences to the family of our guest who lost her life, and her family members who were injured in this tragic event.”

The lift, known as the Quick Draw Express, will resume operations today after engineers and inspectors met terms included in the lift’s “Interim Operation Agreement.” The chairlift in question passed load-testing on December 5th. The Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board signed off on the chairlift’s license on December 8th.

It is unclear just exactly how the electrical problem contributed to the tragic accident on December 29, 2016.

*Our condolences go out to the victim’s friends and family.
