Killington Vermont ski resortA Killington ski resort employee has died following what State police’s initial investigation showed as a fall of approximately 13 feet from a catwalk to the cement floor below.

On Saturday, Jeffrey K. Chalk, 53, of Pittsford was found unresponsive by a fellow Killington Ski Resort employee on the floor of Skyeship Gondola’s North Brook Terminal.

Medical personnel responded to a call from the resort around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Chalk, a longtime resort employee and gondola mechanic, was working alone at the time of the accident. He was transported to the Rutland Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from Vermont State Police issued Saturday night.

The release goes on to state that there was evidence that Chalk had sustained a serious head injury.

*Our thoughts are with Jeffrey Chalk’s family, friends as well as the entire Killington community.
