A tragic air continues to pervade the ski community this week as the Reno Gazette Journal is reporting that a ski instructor from Kings Beach, CA is dead following a crash at Northstar this past weekend.

According to the article, Dennis Baltimore was skiing in a certification class on his way to the locker room when a snowboarder hit a piece of ice and lost control. In order to avoid the sliding snowboarder, Baltimore changed his path and ultimately hit a section of rock before crashing into a nearby creek.

“Northstar California Resort, Northstar Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our employee’s family and friends; we are all devastated by the loss of this member of our team.” – Nadia Guerriero, Northstar VP and General Manager

The victim was later pronounced dead by the Northstar Fire Department. His girlfriend, Jillian Torrez has set up a GoFundMe page to help his friends and family with the mounting funeral costs.
