The CBC is reporting that two-time Olympic gold medallist, Shaun White, has had preliminary talks with Olympic organizers about making his snowboarding/music festival, The Air & Style series, into a qualifying event for the Big Air competition.
Big Air snowboarding will make its Olympic debut in 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Shaun is in discussion with organizer about making the tour an official qualifier for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing but hasn’t ruled out the potential of Pyeongchang 2018 using his event to determine who gets to go to the big show.
Shaun was a bit close to the vest when he spoke to the CBC, but it seems like he’s optimistic:
“There are discussions about trying to do something in the future, hopefully in the near future.”
