A winter storm is dumping its load on the Tetons this weekend with up to 40″ forecasted for the top of rendezvous Bowl @JacksonHole.

Grand Targhee and Teton Pass should also see big snowfall totals and high winds with gusts forecasted to reach wind speeds of up to 50 miles per hour reports NOAA.

  • Grand Targhee – 41″
  • Jackson Hole – 40″
  • Teton Pass – 36″

TETON AND GROS VENTREMOUNTAINS-JACKSONHOLE-
INCLUDING THE CITY OF…JACKSON 1020 AM MST FRI DEC 9 2016

…WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MST SATURDAY…

* TIMING…PERIODS OF SNOW WILL OCCUR THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THERE WILL BE TIMES OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW DURING THE EVENT. SNOWFALL WILL DECREASE TO SNOW SHOWERS SATURDAY EVENING.

* TOTAL SNOWFALL…12 TO 18 INCHES ALONG THE GROS VENTRE RANGE AND 18 TO 28 INCHES ALONG THE TETON RANGE EXPECTED. SNOWFALL OF 8 TO 16 INCHES POSSIBLE IN THE JACKSON VALLEY.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY…THE WIND WILL BE INCREASING TONIGHT. EXPECT A WEST WIND OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. A SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WIND OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL OCCUR IN THE JACKSON VALLEY. THIS WILL RESULT IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ALONG WITH LOWERED VISIBILITY. TETON AND TOGWOTEE PASSES AND HIGHWAY 89 BETWEEN MOOSE AND MORAN WILL BE IMPACTED WITH VERY LOW VISIBILITY AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS…ROADS MAY BECOME SLICK AND SNOW PACKED WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY AT TIMES. PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR ADVERSE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS.
