You might never have gotten to seen this perspective of the Kekerengu Fault if we didn’t live in the age of the drone. The Kekerengu Fault is just one of many faults that ruptured during the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake, epicenter Kaikoura, a coastal town on the South Island of New Zealand.

Initial surveys of the surface rupture is 30km with a max 10 meter horizontal and 2 meter displacement. Really makes you appreciate how much a landscape change in the matter of minutes during a major tectonic event.
