The Paris agreement and executive orders limiting methane emissions are on the chopping block as fate and its newfound master start their slow procession towards carbon friendly federal policies.

So where does this Trump march end? Firstly, the new elected president needs to put his cabinet in order. Of those cabinet positions, two specific figures represent the future of our country’s stance on climate change and conservation– The Secretary of the Department of the Interior and The Environmental Protection Agency administrator.
Environmental Protection Agency
Politico is reporting that climate change critic, Myron Ebell will lead the search for the next administrator of the EPA. Ebell told Vanity Fair back in 2007 that “There has been a little bit of warming … but it’s been very modest and well within the range for natural variability, and whether it’s caused by human beings or not, it’s nothing to worry about.”

By all accounts, this is a huge loss for advocates of clean energy and a climate neutral future. In 2006, Ebell executed a now famous ‘two-wrongs make a right’ view of our climate when he wrote in Forbes that “Given our obvious preference for living in warmer climates as long as we have air-conditioning, I doubt that we’re going to go on the energy diet that the global warming doomsters urge us to undertake.”

According to Ebell’s think-tank the Competitive Enterprise Institute, “Ebell holds a B.A. from Colorado College and an M.S. from the London School of Economics. He also did graduate work at the University of California at San Diego and at Peterhouse, Cambridge University.”
Department of the Interior
According to Politico, Trump is eyeing Lucas Oil executive, Forrest Lucas as the future Secretary of the Department of the Interior. The DOI as it’s otherwise known oversees our nation’s national parks, BLM land, and The US Fish and Wildlife Service.
Lucas, who runs his own farmer and rancher non-profit group advocates for private land stewardship with extremely limited mentions of carbon emissions anywhere near his brand. One would assume that Lucas would push to open public land uo for oil, coal, and natural gas extraction.
Other possible candidates for the position include Sarah Palin, Mary Fallin (GOV-OK) and Wyoming rep, Cynthia Lummis.
