A Dutch skier was killed by an avalanche today in Obergurgl, Austria.  The slide occurred around 1 pm in the Ferwalltal, a popular valley for ski touring.
According to reports, the group of eight backcountry travelers were skinning up when they got taken out by a slide at around 3000 meters. Several members of the group were buried, at least one of them was completely buried. Two skiers managed to stay out of the avalanche and started the rescue.

According to police, one person was killed and two other skiers were taken to the hospital in Innsbruck with severe injuries.
