The snow is flying across the west and ski areas across North America and Europe are about to open their doors for the season… WHOOOHOOO!

That said, some ski areas will open to man-made snow while others greet open trails and powder laden slopes. So without further ado, here are the 10 resorts to find powder on Thanksgiving day.

Crystal Mountain, WA

While an official opening day announcement has yet to be made, the Crystal Mountain website is saying conditions and forecasts are looking favorable for a Thanksgiving opening.

Base Depth: 12″

Forecasted Snow: 20″

Killington, VT

While they may not be predicted to get loads of snow over the next couple days, Killington has more terrain open than anywhere else in the northeast. As such, look for a rogue last minute system to deliver a couple extra, unforseen inches of accumulation. Also, 15″ in the last 48 hours doesn’t hurt.

Zermatt, CH

Zermatt is looking down the barrel of what could be the storm of the season for the Swiss ski resort. Basically, if you’ve got a few thousand bucks laying around, it might be time to book a flight.

Base Depth: 39″

Forecasted Snow: 72″

Timberline, OR

Timberline had a limited opening this past weekend and the Oregon ski area should continue operations through Thanksgiving (weather permitting). That said, it looks like ULLR is happy to oblige.

Forecasted Snow: 19″

Whistler, BC

Whistler Blackcomb will open tomorrow to wintry conditions, which are forecasted to stick around for the remainder of the week. Currently Snow-Forecast is calling for 16″ on Thanksgiving day alone!
