Shay Butler, better known as Shay Carl to his nearly 5 million youtube followers, has bought Pebble Creek Ski Area. The resort had been up for sale for a number of years.
Shay’s Youtube channel mostly follows his family known as the “Shaytards” and as “YouTube’s first family”. Forbes called Butler one of the “most successful video entrepreneurs on YouTube”.
Though Shay’s Youtube fame brought him to Los Angeles for a number of years, he is back in his hometown and the proud new owner of Pebble Creek Ski Area.
The YouTube celebrity decided to purchase the ski area in February. But before the sale could be finalized, officials with the resort had to meet certain requirements with the U.S. Forest Service, the government agency that owns the land where Pebble Creek is located. That process took over seven months.
With Butler now listed as the new owner of Pebble Creek, the Forest Service also approved a new 40-year lease for the ski area to use the land. Officials at Pebble Creek will also need to submit a 10-year master plan for the resort.
