The 5 Times The Most Interesting Man In The World Went Skiing
1976 St. Moritz, Switzerland: He was once invited to St. Moritz by the princess of Luxembourg to display his new invention. He referred to the new device as an “avalanche transceiver.”
1982 Squaw Valley, California: After successfully launching a ski-assisted expedition to map the previously unexplored regions of China’s Tian Shan mountains, he returned to Squaw Valley California with a new race discipline in tow. He called it, “The Chinese Downhill.”

1989 Almaty, Kyrgyzstan: In early November of 1989, he headed to Kyrgyzstan as an embassy of peace along with The Soviet Union’s leader, Mikhail Gorbachev. Locals say he brought 1,000 beers, a boombox loaded with a copy of Van Halen’s 1984, and over 100 pairs of skis. He melted out a small pond and held what is commonly referred to as the “Pond Skim For Peace.” The Berlin Wall was torn down days later.
1994 Lillehammer, Norway: He was once disqualified from the Olympic Ski Jumping event at the Lillehammer Olympics. According to IOC officials, “his beard gave him too much upward lift.”
2001 Aspen, CO: Turns out, Paris Hilton’s first foray into amateur adult film involved him at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen. She says it was the defining moment of her life. He kept the tape for himself and said, “I’ve had better.”
