The snow guns have been firing at Arapahoe Basin and resort officials said they could open “any day now”. Cold temps have helped the resort blow enough snow to get the chairlifts spinning as soon as next week.

Arapahoe Basin’s COO Alan Henceroth told 9 News that, “We are ready to open just about anytime we had a fantastic week of snowmaking, and we are waiting for one or two more cold nights and we will get this place open”.

Loveland Ski Area is also still in the hunt to be the first ski area to open in North America. The ski area has also made heaps of snow and say they’re hoping next week will be very productive for snowmaking so that they can open soon as well.
